Your tank safely and properly sealed
We understand the challenges in tank storage, such as storage capacity availability, time pressure, various media, fire and explosion hazards, and large volumes of often dangerous substances. Avoiding any incident where people and the environment could be at risk must have the highest priority. Controlling risks is a necessity, and technical measures are available for this. You can rely on the knowledge and products of KLINGER.
Manholes are present on a tank in various sizes and designs and often consist of weak flange connections. Frequently with thin flanges, few bolts, and large/wide sealing surfaces. Gaskets must also be multi-functional, as the media in the tanks can vary (pH varies from 0-14). And that is precisely the challenge for every tank farm manager!

Standards
Legal requirements and standards apply to tank storage to ensure safety. The SEVESO directive, for example, describes “the requirements for a high level of protection of installations for the storage and loading of flammable liquids”. In the SEVESO III regulations (Directive 2012/18/EU – July 4, 2012), a direct link is made to directives for seals. Aspects such as FIRE-SAFE and leakage classes are directly associated with this directive.
In summary, the connections directly on the storage tank up to the pump must be FIRE-SAFE. For other connections in the piping, it is a recommendation but not a requirement.
