CASE: Generating hot water from steam
using waste heat from condensate
A Belgian food producer was looking for a way to produce hot water using the steam that was already available.

Challenge
Using available steam to produce hot water.
Solution
A KLINGER skid with a vertical Baelz U-tube heat exchanger and a buffer tank:
- Cooling condensate in the exchanger: the waste heat from the condensate is transferred to the hot water. This reduces the amount of steam required for the same output.
- Condensate-side control: the heat exchanger regulates via the condensate outlet.
- Buffer tank: ensures smooth, stable control.
- Well-insulated: during weekend downtime, only 4,000 kcal of heat is lost.

Impact
Hot water from steam, with maximum use of
the energy already available.
- Lower steam consumption
- Waste heat from condensate is utilized
- Smooth, stable control thanks to the buffer tank
- Very low heat loss during downtime

Is there waste heat in your process as well?
In a free initial consultation, we will examine together where your installation loses heat and what the recovery of waste heat can achieve.
